Jeffrey Abt is Professor Emeritus in the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Wayne State University. Trained as an artist, he has balanced studio practice with scholarship for over four decades.

His work examines how museums shape culture, how memory is preserved or lost, and how art serves as both artifact and expression. Alongside exhibitions and commissions, Abt has authored widely reviewed books and essays, contributing to international debates on art, identity, and institutions.
